Gemma is the Strategy & Change Director at Her Majesty’s Courts & Tribunals Service, responsible for leading the HMCTS reform programme. By introducing digital processes, services and new ways of working over recent years, we’ve already taken significant steps towards modernising and improving the way our courts and tribunals administer justice.
More recently Gemma has been leading the recovery of the criminal courts in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The need to change not what we do, but how we do it, is more acute now than ever before.
Gemma’s previous roles at HMCTS have been Programme Director for the Crime Programme, which has been responsible for leading the modernisation of the criminal courts and development of the Common Platform. Gemma was also our Transformation Director, which involved leading operational teams across London and the South East, managing the transition of new services into the operational business.
Prior to joining HMCTS Gemma worked in HM Passport Office leading the change delivery teams for its Transformation Programme.
Before joining the Civil Service, Gemma worked for London Underground in operational, strategic and change delivery roles. Gemma led the trains and signalling operations on the Hammersmith & City & Circle lines through the introduction of new train stock and delivered the service through the 2012 Olympics.
